PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Happy November everyone,
ELECTIONS The ballot for our November election is now available. You may print this if you wish to mail you ballot. Click Here for Ballot CANDIDATE BIOS: PRESIDENT Bonnie Dominguez My name is Bonnie
Dominguez... I have enjoyed being our chapter President this past year and would
like the opportunity to continue as our Chapter President for 2009... My goal
last year was to help our little Chapter grow ... we've gained a few new members
and have had a few that have left come back ... and as Martha says "That's a
GOOD THING"...
VICE PRESIDENT Carla Stark I have been doing one type of art or another all my life. I have belonged to SDP for several years. I joined my first Chapter in 2003 in Southern Maryland. While living in Maryland, I held the office of Seminar Officer in the Southern Maryland Decorative Painter's Chapter for a one year term. I enjoy learning and teaching this art form called "Decorative Painting". I have to admit since my move back to this area I have missed teaching decorative painting. So when my home studio is set up, I will start teaching again. I have had the pleasure of taking classes from several different "Big Brushes "the last few years. My favorite style of painting is stroke work. I really like Maureen McNaughton's style of painting. I am a DecoArt Helping Artist, a Priscilla Hauser Accredited Teacher, a Certified Onestroke Instructor, and a Tradition's Teacher in training. I took the course but am still learning and painting the lessons in modules A, B, and C therefore I say in training. I have lived in many different places around the world. My husband was career military for 31 years, and we moved a lot. This is my second time living in Arizona. When my husband went to Iraq for a year, I came back to Arizona to be close to our two daughters and three grandsons. I also have a sister and her family that live in Phoenix
SECRETARY Liz Sharp My name is Liz Sharp, I am married with two great children and have been painting for over 15 years. I have been a member of the Tumbleweed Chapters for two years, and member of the Palms to Pines Painters of Hemet California, for five years. I have served as Christmas Party Committee co-chair and Pennies Program Committee Chair. I have helped to coordinate and participate in chapter boutique sales My love for decorative painting has inspired me to teach at local tole shops and at "make it and takes it" at chapter meetings. I look forward to many more years of painting and chapter events. TREASURER Karen Loebach Two years ago my husband & moved to Surprise from the Chicago area. We have two daughters and five grandchildren. Before retiring I taught decorative painting classes & the Russian Zhosotovo style. Now I paint for the pure love of painting. I have been a member of SDP & Chapters since 1980 & have held the positions of Treasurer, Chairsfor Education, Hospitality, Membership, Ways & Means, Raffle, Library & Philanthropic. I enjoy the creativity and friendship of decorative painters and would enjoy becoming more involved with Tumbleweed Tolers.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Silent auction - Any item (large or small, container or not) ANY holiday. This gives each of us the perfect opportunity to donate a new, old or in between painted item to benefit the education fund - we have some great seminars scheduled next year and this benefits us all. Be sure to join in and share your painted items with fellow members If you have any questions you can contact anyone from the Christmas Committee. Click Here for dinner menu selection. Please remember to turn in your dinner form and money ($10.25 for members, $20.50 for non-members) at the next meeting for the Christmas party. Remember to paint an ornament for the Ornament exchange and to paint something for the Auction. This year everything will go in the Auction. You can paint something that goes for a small amount of money or something for a larger amount, we'll take it all. It can be an Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Christmas. We thought it would be nice to have something from the other holidays to. Preferably on some kind of container, such as a plate, box, can, tin, etc. I hope all of you participate! Also don't forget that Bonnie will be raffling off a President piece! Sooo , bring your money! Sherri Lee, Linda Grass or Verna Kulis
Chapter Buddies I hope everyone is actively getting to know your Chapter Buddy & having fun together. Please take time from your busy schedules & do something special for your Buddy for Christmas
WAYS&MEANS

that I would like to thank everyone who has donated pieces, painted and not

Members must pay the treasurer and take receipt to sign up table for Paint-ins and Seminars October: Patti Johns View Project November: Ornaments Ann Perz "Snow Lady" & Donna Gagnon "Christmas Gift" December: Christmas Party No painting Each teacher needs to have their project at the meeting at least 2 months in advanced. If not the project, at least a picture. This gives the members time to sign up and lets the teacher know how many patterns, etc., to bring to the next meeting for the people that signed up. Also, if anyone would like to share or teach something and we already have someone slotted to teach that month, no problem, as we could have 2 projects that month. If you have any questions or if you would like to teach, contact Jane Smith
WHAT'S NEW? Lowell Cornell has teamed up with several "big brushes" to put some instructional video clips on You Tube. These clips demonstrate how to use various Lowell Cornell products.
