Tumbleweed Tolers Minutes for November 16, 2011

 

Meeting was called to order by President Sherri Lee at 6:15 P.M.

 

Board members in attendance were :

President Sherri Lee

Vice President Carolyn Johnson

Treasurer Bonnie Dominguez

Secretary Linda Grass sitting in for Judy Lopez

Erma approved minutes for last month and Vicki seconded.

Bonnie reported that as of today, Nov. 16, 2011 that there was $4,102.72 in our account.  Bonnie also stated that the bank was going to start charging $3.00 for each statement.  She said we could also get a computerized statement at no charge.  Sherri agreed that we should discontinue the paper statement.  Vicki made a motion to discontinue the paper  statement and just use the computer statement.  Becky seconded.  Unanimous approval.

Committee Reports:

Christmas Party:  Vicki explained the dinner would be at Carvers at 83rd Ave. and Thunderbird.  Cost would be $25.  There would be 5 entrees to choose from and that there would be a menu at each setting so each person could choose their meal.  The arrival time is 5:30.  That would be for cocktails and set up.  Each person is to bring 2 ornaments.  One for the exchange and one for the tree to be auctioned.  Hopefully each person will also bring an item to be auctioned off.  There will be the Presidents’ piece to be auctioned off and there will be some gift certificates also.  Bring lots of money and come ready for lots of fun and friendship.

Membership:  Evelyn announced we have 4 new members.  They are Joan Vosen, Ann Cline, Beth Waddoups and Marcia Meyer.  Welcome ladies.

Ways and Means:  Erma announced that there would be a 50/50 drawing and for the other items to be raffled it would be .50 each.

Paint workshop:  Kathy announced that Susan Phillips would be teaching a class on Sat. Nov.19th at the church.  The price is $20 and $12 for the block, lights and ribbon.  It would be a potluck.  She also reminded us about Arlene Litton coming in January, 2012.  The seminar pictures are on the website.

Sunshine:  Linda  let everyone know that Jacque Clarke is home and doing well and that she didn’t know of anyone else needing cards, etc.

Historian:  Linda announced that she was still taking pictures, etc.

Sherri said she would check with the Tole Shop about a girls day out to do Memory Boxes

Paint In’s:  Carolyn announced that for January, Sherri will be teaching us how to Zentangle.  The fee for the supplies will be $6.00 payable to Sherri the night of plus $5.00 for the class.

Feb.  Vicki will teach a project

March:  Ann will teach a project

April: Kathy will teach a project

May:  Carolyn will teach a project

June, July, and Aug. there will be no paint in’s as there isn’t enough people that come to warrant paying for the church.

Sept.: Erma will teach a project

Oct.: Nancy Houck will teach a project

Nov.: Bonnie will teach an ornament

Nov. meeting will be the 14th.

Ladies, please have your piece there 2 months in advance so people can sign up and get their piece and instructions.

News letter:  Kathy announced that the website is updated.  She has created a place for anyone who is teaching something to send her their information, name,phone number, website,etc and she would post it there so people could contact them about their classes.

Memory Boxes:  Nancy says to keep them coming!

GI Bill:  Probably will have the items to buy maybe in Feb. or March.  Will decide next year if we will continue the GI Bill.

Sherri asked Linda about the officers for the board for 2012.  Linda announced :

President :  Sherri Lee would run again

Vice President:  Erma Crippen

Treasurer:  Bonnie Dominguez will continue

Secretary:  Iona Gregg

Sherri asked for any nominations from the floor.  There were none.  The new Board will be installed at the December Christmas party/installation.

Kathy announced the website needs to be renewed and the PO Box bill is due.  The bills were given to Treasurer, Bonnie Dominguez for payment.

New Busines:

Carolyn announced she was having an ornament class at her house on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Bonnie asked if anyone would be interested in having a craft boutique at the church sometime in the fall of next year for a fund raiser.  We are in need of ways to raise money for our chapter so everyone, put your thinking caps on!  Any ideas that come to mind, please forward to Sherri via email.
