February, 2011Hi – I cannot believe January slipped past
us so quickly. Should I remind you now how many days until our Christmas party
and silent auction? Just kidding.
First, I want to thank Suzy and Kathy for their hard word in getting Arlene
Linton to Arizona for the great seminar we had on January 27 and 28. I have
received a card from Arlene and she thoroughly enjoyed teaching our chapter
members and guests – as much as we enjoyed the classes she gave. I truly love
painting lace, but it was wonderful learning the true techniques of lace
painting from the master herself. Also, a huge thank you to our members and
guests for the great luncheon and snacking dishes brought for the pot-lucks.
Stupendous job ladies, and if you haven’t had enough lace painting, Arlene will
be back in Arizona in November teaching in Tucson for the Guild. More info on
that seminar as it becomes available.
There are several items this month to be aware of. Our monthly meeting will
be on Wednesday, February 15 and I hope to see each of you in attendance. Vicki
Buckman will be teaching – be sure to check out the website for pictures and TWT
announcements. This meeting will also offer the opportunity for you to spend
those GI Bills you have been accumulating during the past year. There will be a
silent auction to spend your monies, but also remember to bring a painted item
to donate to the auction so members will have a plethora of painted objects to
bid on. If you have any questions, please contact the GI Bill chair – Karen
Smith.
On Sunday, February 19th, TWT will meet at The Tole Shop in
Glendale for a day long paint fest to complete Memory Boxes for the local
hospitals. Bring your own patterns and paints and complete a box you have
started or paint one from scratch. (This event
will be rescheduled to a later date)
We will also be having a pot-luck luncheon that day, so bring a dish to
share. The event will begin at 10 and end at 3-4 PM. Please bring your painting
friends, patterns and paints to share. TWT donated over 100 memory boxes last
year and we have our sights on hitting 200 this year. Attendees do not have to
be a member of TWT to paint that day, but please call Carolyn at the Tole Shop
